Questions are part of the process.
Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Here you will find clear answers about sessions, services, language, availability, and what to expect.

Getting started
What to expect before and during your first sessions.
How do I know if Vamos Counseling is right for me?
Vamos Counseling may be a good fit if you are an adult ready to work toward meaningful change, value honesty and transparency, and want your beliefs, culture, and values respected in the room. The practice is especially focused on anxiety, OCD, and life transitions.
A free 15-minute consultation gives you a chance to ask questions and decide whether the approach feels right before scheduling a full session.
What happens during the free 15-minute consultation?
It is a brief conversation to understand what you are looking for, answer initial questions, and explore whether Vamos Counseling may be the right fit. It is not a therapy session, but it can help you decide on the next step.
What should I expect in my first therapy session?
Your first session is about getting to know you. You will share what is going on, talk through your needs, and begin defining what treatment could look like. The goal is to leave with a clearer picture of what you and Karin would be working toward together — real goals and real direction.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
No. You can begin with what you are experiencing right now, even if it feels difficult to explain. Part of the initial process is identifying your needs, priorities, and goals together.
Therapy and approach
How sessions work and the concerns they can address.
What concerns does Karin work with?
Karin’s specialties include OCD, anxiety, and life transitions. She works with adults from a variety of backgrounds, including professionals, immigrants, expats, teachers, therapists, and people beginning a new chapter in their lives.
What therapeutic approaches are used?
Vamos Counseling uses evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The approach is integrative and person-centered, so treatment is adapted to your situation and goals rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all formula.
How long are therapy sessions?
Individual sessions may be 30, 45, or 55 minutes. The most appropriate length can be discussed during intake based on your needs, goals, and schedule.
How often will I attend therapy?
Frequency is personalized. Many people begin with more frequent sessions and gradually space them out as they build skills, gain confidence, and need less support. The goal is progress and independence — not keeping you in therapy forever.
Can I return after completing therapy?
Yes. Maintenance sessions are available after you have met your goals, allowing for periodic check-ins to fine-tune skills and stay on track. If something new comes up later, you are welcome to return.
Access and practical details
Language, location, format, and session fees.
Are sessions online or in person?
Vamos Counseling is a virtual practice. Sessions take place online so you can receive support from a private, comfortable space that works for you.
Where is Karin licensed to provide therapy?
Karin is licensed as an LMHC in Florida, an LPC-MHSP in Tennessee, and an LPCC in Minnesota. Therapy availability depends on where you are physically located at the time of your session.
Are sessions available in Spanish?
Yes. Sessions are available in English and Spanish. You can use the language that feels most natural for describing your experiences, thoughts, and emotions.
What is the fee for individual therapy?
The fee is $150 for a 55-minute individual therapy session. Session length and frequency are discussed during intake. Contact Vamos Counseling for information about other session lengths.
What should I do if I need immediate help?
Vamos Counseling is not an emergency service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Additional crisis resources are available on the Resources page.
Groups and professional services
Support beyond individual therapy.
Does Vamos Counseling offer therapy groups?
Therapy groups are planned in English and Spanish. Topics, schedules, enrollment details, and fees are coming soon. You can contact Vamos Counseling to be added to the interest list.
What is a consultation session?
Consultation provides focused, practical information from a clinical perspective; it is not therapy. Past requests have included schools supporting a student with OCD, therapists seeking case consultation that is not supervision, and family members trying to better understand what a loved one is experiencing.
Does Karin offer presentations or trainings?
Yes. Presentation and training topics may include cultural awareness, emotional support, communication, and community support. Scope and fees vary, so contact Vamos Counseling to discuss your needs.
What are Spanish Practice Sessions for therapists?
These sessions help therapists become more comfortable working with Spanish-speaking clients by building clinical vocabulary, practicing how to explain concepts, and developing fluency in the language of the therapy room.
They are available one-on-one or in small groups, with structured or open-ended formats for different Spanish proficiency levels.
